Sacred Heart Cathedral proudly hosted the WCAL Wrestling Championships on February 7, and the Fightin' Irish delivered an impressive performance across multiple weight divisions while earning numerous berths to the upcoming CCS Championships.

Leading the way was Leylakay Melendez '28, who captured the Varsity girls 122lb WCAL title with a dominant showing, while Nathaniel Sampior-Davis claimed the frosh championship and led SHC to a 3rd place freshmen team finish to highlight a strong future for the program. Inary Macias-Mendoza battled her way to a second-place finish, and third-place honors went to Elizabeth Ogden, Winifred O'Callaghan, Madeleine Porter, YahShuah Tuliao, Gabriel Ochoa-Bermudez, Roman Maimone and Ronin Innes. 

Several additional Irish wrestlers secured top-five finishes to punch their tickets to CCS, including Kian Leon Guerrero, Dylan Russo, Braden Loya, Lazaro Ruiz, and Lamberto Lara Landin. 

With a league champion, multiple podium finishes, and a large group advancing to CCS, SHC showcased both its depth and competitive spirit while hosting a successful championship event.
