The Sacred Heart Cathedral Fighting Irish continued their perfect start to the season Friday night with a convincing 28-7 victory over Palma in Salinas, improving to 2-0 on the season.

SHC's offense came out firing, scoring on its first three possessions before adding a fourth touchdown on a blocked punt. Michael Vasquez '27 led the way at quarterback, throwing for 262 yards and one touchdown, including a 48-yard touchdown pass to Germaine Powell '28. Chase Jenkins '27 had a team-high 103 receiving yards, while Elijah Ariyah '28 and Fred Fauatea '28 each added a rushing touchdown. Ariyah scored on the blocked punt, with Romeo Curiel '27 providing the key block.

The Fightin' Irish defense was equally impressive, holding Palma to 106 total yards. The strong defensive effort has been a hallmark of SHC's 2-0 start, with the Irish allowing just 17 points through two games.

First year head coach Darius Bell shared, "The team is coming along. We have a long ways to go in order to be who we want to be but we are working diligently every day to do so. We have a huge test this week, excited for the opportunity."

The Irish play at home on Friday when they take on Folsom at 7:00pm at Kezar.

Go Irish!
