On Thursday, February 5, SHC swimmers gave back to the community through a service project focused on water safety and swim education at the Boys & Girls Club of San Francisco. Members of the SHC swim team, along with SHC swim coaches, volunteered their time to instruct local youth in basic swimming skills, swim lessons, and pool safety, helping children build confidence in the water while learning essential life-saving skills.
The Irish proudly worked with Off the Field NFL Wives Association, the American Heart Association, the USA Swimming Foundation and the Boys & Girls Club of San Francisco to offer this Water Safety Program, which provided free swim lessons and CPR training to families in our community. Together, they served 140 children in the San Francisco community.
The experience was made even more special by the involvement of NFL Alumni Association and 2020 Tokyo Olympic Bronze Medalist Natalie Hinds, who worked alongside our swimmers to lead instruction, inspire confidence and emphasize the importance of water safety.
"The project was a powerful reminder of our school motto, Enter to learn, Leave to serve,"Â said Head Coach Jonathan Riley. "Our swimmers not only had the opportunity to serve the community, but also to learn from accomplished professionals, gaining leadership skills, perspective and inspiration that will stay with them far beyond the pool."
Well done, SHC Swimming!
