Sacred Heart Cathedral soccer opened the second round of league play with purpose, as both the boys and girls teams delivered strong performances versus Valley Christian.  The girls posted a 4-0 win and the boys won 2-1.

The girls set the tone with a complete team effort, getting goal contributions from Kylee Po '26, Alice Forster '27, Gabi Cameron '26, and Francesca Johnson '27.  Arden Dumbleton '28, Cameron and Johnson added assists as SHC's balanced attack and unselfish play paid dividends. "We talked about starting the second half of the league season strong and improving on our results," said Coach Wilson. "What made today extra special was getting contributions from so many different players."

On the boys' side, SHC battled through a tight match that showcased resilience and composure. The Irish struck first when William Snavely '28 finished a cross from Liam Gardiner '26, only to see the match tied eight minutes later. With the score locked at 1–1 late, it was déjà vu from last season as Gardiner stepped up and delivered a clutch free kick, curling the ball into the upper right corner of the goal with eight minutes remaining to secure the win.

Both wins were great bounce back wins, as the girls team had lost to Valley Christian 0-1 in their first match up and the boys had tied 1-1. 

With strong starts from both squads, SHC soccer looks poised for a confident and competitive second half of league play. 

Both teams are back in action on Saturday, January 31, when they will play St. Ignatius at St. Ignatius.  The boys play at 10am and the girls play at 12noon.
