Sacred Heart Cathedral boys soccer team went head-to-head against their rivals Saint Ignatius over the weekend and took care of business at the Beach Chalet fields. The Irish defeated the Wildcats 3-1 in a three-goal thriller on Saturday.

Eoin McLoughlin '25 opened the scoring with a first-half goal, and the Irish took a 1-0 lead into halftime.
SI scored a set-piece equalizer not even ten minutes into the second half. Â
Cristian Contreras '27 retook the lead for the Irish with a goal 12 minutes later.Â
In the 28th minute, the Irish cemented the win with a spectacular 25 yard shot by
Francisco Garcia '25 over the SI goalkeeper's head.Â
It was a match of great defense and exhilarating, high-intensity play. Goalkeeper
Sebastian Bradshaw '26 made three huge saves to keep the Wildcats from gaining life and finding a way back into the game.
The Irish will play next at Archbishop Mitty on Wednesday, February 7th, with hopes of building off their win this past weekend.
