The Sacred Heart Cathedral Track & Field Team qualified seven student athletes in four events for the CIF State Track and Field Championships and Coach Andy Chan couldn't have been prouder. "What an honor to be coaching on the last day of the CIF season." 

Miles Cook '25 qualified in the 1600 and advanced to the State Meet final where he ran a 4:10.73 to make the podium with an 8th place finish. This was the fifth State Championship event for Cook, who qualified twice in Track & Field and three times in Cross Country.  Cal Poly SLO-bound Cook holds the fastest time for the Boys 1600 meters/Mile in San Francisco Prep history with a 4:08.33.  Saturday's finals also marked the first SHC track and field finalist since 2003.  

Jasaun Mabrey '25 came very close to becoming a second finalist, placing 13th in the state in the Triple Jump trials and missing the finals by one place. O'Bryan Flanigan '25 represented the Irish well, running 10.83 in the 100, placing 21st overall in the trials on Friday evening. 

The Girls 4X400 team of Tessa Werhle '26, Izzy Guzman '25, Vivien Colwick '25 and Ava Lindner '28 had a fantastic race. While they didn't advance to the finals, they dropped 3 seconds of their previous record, setting a new school record again with a 3:53.01.  The splits were Tessa-58.5, Izzy-60.2, Vivi-58.3, Ava-56.0. This time ranks the team in the top 20 all-time for CCS and may be the fastest time ever run by a San Francisco girls high school team.
