The Sacred Heart Cathedral softball team earned the #5 seed in the 2025 Central Coast Section Division IV playoffs and faced #4 seeded Lincoln San Jose on graduation day. The Irish celebrated graduation with a 7-5 over the Lions to advance to the semifinals. 

Head Coach Tom Matteucci made sure to note the occasion in his message to the SHC softball players.  "Yesterday was a historic day for our program. Our five seniors graduated and officially became SHC Alumni, and we won our first CCS Game in program history."  

The Irish were led by WCAL 1st Team selections Adriana Giomi '25 and Kaylen Edora '27.  Edora pitched seven innings and earned the win, giving up five hits and five runs (one earned) while striking out three and walking six. She also provided some clutch hitting when the game was tied at 5-5 in the seventh, doubling to score two runs to put the Irish ahead.  

Giomi posted another multiple hit game going 3 for 4 with two runs scored and an RBI.  Sydney Endo '25 went 2 for 4, scored two runs and batted in one.  

The win marked the first time the Irish advanced in the postseason.  

On Wednesday, May 28, the team traveled to Los Gatos to face Palma in a twilight 7pm semifinal game.  Despite an inside the park homerun and excellent pitching performance by Giomi, a seventh inning two run surge by Palma closed out the 2025 season for the Irish.  

In addition to the WCAL all league nods to Giomi and Edora, Arden Walsh '25 and Sydney Endo '25 received 2nd Team honors while Francesca Moralejo '27 received Honorable Mention.
