Adriana Giomi '25 collected three hits in three at bats as the SHC softball team posted a great road win over Presentation Panthers on Friday.
The team scored 8 runs on 11 hits in the effort. Pitcher Kaylen Edora '27 earned the win for the Irish, giving up six hits and three runs (one earned) over seven innings while striking out seven. Kaitlin Ruegg '24 provided pop in the middle of the lineup, leading the Irish with two runs batted in. Giomi and Wanda Wilson '25 each stole 3 bases.
"The team played well today with timely plays, a good pitching performance and consistent hitting," stated Head Coach Tom Matteucci.
The win was a huge turn around after the squad lost to the Panthers 3-14 on Wednesday at Lang. Matteucci was pleased with how his team was able to bounce back. "Wednesday was a complete low point for the team, physically, mentally and emotionally. We talked about trust yesterday at practice and about putting that trust in each other. The team showed today that they are really starting to believe they can win. They are really coming together as a team."
Next up, the Irish host Balboa HS at Westmoor on Tuesday, April 16 at 4:00pm.
