The Sacred Heart Cathedral girls lacrosse team won 10-3 against Aragon last week to continue their stellar start to the 2025 season. The win brought the Irish's record to 6-0, but a tough 8-9 loss to Lick Wilmerding ended SHC's undefeated start to the year last Friday night. Head coach Skylar Simpson is thrilled with her team's start to the year, especially with the senior leadership.

"The varsity squad has had an impressive start to the season," Simpson said. "Senior captains Isabella Patnode '25, Lyla Simpson '25, Parker Nash '25 and Ameera Demetri '25 have been strong leaders setting the way for unity, teamwork and success in high-pressure games. The team has demonstrated extreme resiliency during close games and we have a lot to look forward to the rest of the season."

In addition to the varsity girls' win, the JV girls also got their first win of the year, an 11-3 victory over Aragon. The JV team's hard work finally paid off as the Irish picked up their first win, and their fight so far this year has not gone unnoticed.

"The entire team has been working relentlessly to learn the game and implement their new skills on game days," Simpson said. "The win is well deserved due to the team's hard work at each and every practice. The girls are improving every day and are eager to play at their best."

As their strong start to the year continues, the Irish will be back in action when they host Aragon this Wednesday at 5:30pm at Lang Field.
