The Sacred Heart Cathedral girls soccer team went into the second round league game against St. Ignatius off of a 2 game win streak. The Irish had already been defeated earlier in the season 3-0 by SI and had limited subs because of injuries. SI scored early in the first half and the game could have gotten out of reach. The Irish played tireless defense, and goalkeeper
Ari Beddoes saved several shots on goal to keep the Wildcats at one goal. Coach Wilson made a tactical adjustment to have forward
Ella Taclas play wide between SI's defense and midfield and told her to drive at them and shoot. She did exactly that, hit a low ball off the wet turf, and the ball went through the SI keeper's hands into the back of the net. The Irish defense held and carried the Irish to the 1-1 draw.
The Irish travel to Bishop O'Dowd on Tuesday and celebrate Senior Day against Mitty at 11:00 on Saturday at Beach Chalet. GO IRISH!
