The Sacred Heart Cathedral Boys and Girls basketball teams both opened their seasons by winning their respective tournaments this past weekend. The SHC boys won the Novato Tournament by beating Sonoma Valley 59-31 and Novato HS 60-38 before winning the title over Albany in the tournament final, 55-50.  Fed Pernell '24 earned All-Tournament honors, and for a first time ever, the Novato tournament organizers recognized a team manager, SHC's Thomas Buskey '26 with All-Tournament honors.  

The SHC girls team were Champions of the Cardinal Newman tournament, defeating Windsor 68-34 and Buchanan 54-34 to reach the final against the host school.  The Irish hung on to edge out Cardinal Newman 42-41 and capture the tournament title.  Madison Eade '25 was named Tournament MVP and Reza Po '24, Kiana Moniz '24, Aniyah Versosa '25 and Monet Oliver '25 were recognized with All-Tournament honors.
