Daly City officials and Sacred Heart Cathedral (SHC) representatives will break ground on the renovation of Marchbank Park Field on Tuesday, January 27. The transformative project marks the most significant public-private partnership in Daly City's history and will create a premier athletic facility serving both the community and student-athletes.
The renovation will convert Marchbank Park Field into a cutting-edge multi-sport venue capable of accommodating baseball, softball, soccer, football, flag football and lacrosse. The facility will serve Daly City residents, San Mateo County citizens and Sacred Heart Cathedral students. The renovation includes installation of next-generation synthetic turf with organic fill, enhanced drainage systems, new bleacher seating, upgraded fencing and retaining walls, modernized electrical systems, improved landscaping, and new restroom facilities.Â
"I'm incredibly proud to welcome this project to Daly City. Marchbank Park Field represents economic growth, civic pride, and a vibrant future. It's a testament to what we can achieve when we work together," Daly City Mayor Glenn R. Sylvester said.Â
The groundbreaking ceremony will take place at Marchbank Park Field (10 S Parkview Ave, Daly City, CA 94014) on Tuesday, January 27. The ceremony will include remarks by Daly City Mayor Glenn R. Sylvester, San Mateo County District 5 Supervisor David J. Canepa, Daly City City Manager Thomas J. Piccolotti and SHC President Dr. Melinda Lawlor Skrade. The Ramaytush Ohlone peoples will also be acknowledged during the event.Â
"This groundbreaking ceremony is the beginning of a new era and partnership between Sacred Heart Cathedral and Daly City," President Skrade said. "When renovations are complete, Marchbank Park Field will serve as a beacon for community building and athletic competition."Â
