The Sacred Heart Cathedral baseball team made the 2025 Central Coast Section playoffs, earning the #6 seed in CCS Division II. Eleven seniors graduated on May 24th and then traveled with the team to Hollister to face the #3 seeded Balers for a 4pm start.
Both teams were strong on the mound, but Hollister was just a little bit stronger at the plate in their 3-0 victory over the Irish. First team all-WCAL pitcher Jacob Vines '26 started the game for the Irish and recorded 16 outs. He went five and one-third innings, allowing three runs (one earned) on five hits, striking out six and walking two.
Cal-bound Trenton Roach earned the win for Hollister. The starter surrendered two hits and zero runs over six innings, striking out 11 and walking one. Jeremy Marquez '25 and WCAL 2nd Team selection Santino Baisman '25 each collected one hit off of Roach in the loss.
Coach Gregg Franceschi '94 praised his players' efforts. "The team played well and controlled what we could. We had to tip our caps to Hollister's ace, who is heading to Cal next year. I'm proud of how our kids handled themselves, and of their focus and efforts all season long."
In addition to Vines and Baisman, Rohan Kahns '25 was named to the WCAL 2nd Team and Quinn Middleton '25, Tedford Lewis '26 and PJ Vigo '25 each received Honorable Mention.
Congratulations on making CCS, team. Go Irish!
