7On Saturday night, the Fightin' Irish Baseball team took on the St. Ignatius Wildcats at Oracle Park in the last leg of the 2024-25 Bruce-Mahoney. Pitcher Jacob Vines '26 started for the Irish and and threw three and a third innings, giving up four hits and three runs while striking out seven. After keeping the Wildcats scoreless for three innings, the Irish let three Wildcat runs get by in the top of the fourth.
In response, Quinn Middleton hit a line drive to center right with the bases loaded, batting in two runs to tie the score 3-3.
In the sixth, SHC pitcher Cooper Rogers Lewis kept the Wildcats at bay, with catcher Chasin Deninger throwing out the SI baserunner when attempting to steal second.
As the Irish tried to close out the top of the seventh with bases loaded and two outs, a line drive by the Wildcats to right field snuck past the Irish and SI scored three more runs. With half an inning to go, SHC put in a valiant effort to try and tick up the score, but were unsuccessful and the Irish were defeated 6-3.
With a 5-4 record, the Irish continue with WCAL play on March 25th when they take on Archbishop Mitty on the Monarchs' home field.
