Sacred Heart Cathedral boys volleyball opened their season with a win over a strong Moreau Catholic team on Tuesday evening. 

Led by coach Nga Tran, the Fightin' Irish took down the Mariners by a score of 3-1 in the best-of-five-set match. Senior outside hitter Ethan Arguello led the SHC offense with 12 kills. Fellow seniors Callum McArthur and Oskar Ovalle added double-digit kills, recording 10 and 11, respectively.

Sophomore middle blocker Christoph Schroeder led the Irish with four total blocks, while senior defensive specialist Marc Gomez paced the defense with 14 digs. Setter and outside hitter Sloan Dobson did a fantastic job putting his teammates to attack the ball with his 15 assists and 11 digs.

The Irish boys volleyball team will be in action on Friday, February 23, against the Hillsdale Fighting Knights in San Mateo at 6:30 pm.
