On Saturday, October 19, the Irish flag football team gathered at Ocean Beach and held a beach cleanup to show our appreciation for the environment and in service for the people and animals that live in the area. Our team gathered together and started off with a prayer lead by Isabella Guzman '25. Isabel Murray '26 and Annalise Cho '25 discussed with the team about how trash, especially plastics, are consistently being thrown into our ocean and damaging the ecosystem and the animals that thrive around it. It was for these reasons that the team came to Ocean Beach to do our part to help the environment.

We started off with picking up trash around the beach and sidewalk. We were motivated as the coaches said they would give a prize to the team who filled up their bags with the most trash. Once we picked up the trash, we spent the rest of the day playing a game of flag football in the sand! The coaches let us go ankle deep in the refreshing water, though for some reason I was soaking wet by the end of cleanup. We were able to work on plays and put people into positions that they never tried before. It was a great experience, not only to help the environment, but to grow as a team and community.
