The Sacred Heart Cathedral boys varsity lacrosse team used a break in the weather and a spring school holiday last Friday for a team beach clean up. The team meet at the north end of Ocean Beach with the goal of picking up as much trash as possible between Balboa Street down to the start of Golden Gate Park.
The wind died down after a half hour and the team enjoyed a gorgeous day while they did a small part to help save the ocean. Soon their competitive natures took over and the clean up became a contest on which group could collect the most garbage.
The project was led by head Coach Luke Swanson '12 and assistant coach Nick Marino, and the team members agreed that it was a great opportunity to build team chemistry and help the community.
The team is 8-3 heading into their game with Riordan on Friday, March 31, where they face off with the Crusaders at 5:45pm at Beach Chalet #1.
