Coach Andy Chan is currently in his 25th year as the head coach for the SHC cross country and track & field teams. Coach Chan's teams are known throughout the Bay Area for their team spirit and strong team community. His teams have also set numerous school records and won league and CCS championships.
In cross country, the girls have qualified for the State Meet nine times, and the boys have qualified eight times. Coach Chan's noteworthy accomplishment is coaching three time Olympian Shannon Rowbury '02, who won two State Championships while running for SHC and has gone on to be World Championship medalist and an American record holder.
Coach Chan is also proud that 17 former team members have come back to SHC to be members of the coaching staff. He has been named CCS Honor Coach two times (2005-track & field, 2013-cross country) and he was the recipient of the 2009 SHC Vincentian Service Award. In addition to coaching, he has worked at SHC as Facilities Coordinator and more recently COVID Safety Coordinator.
