Sacred Heart Cathedral announced today that Antoine Evans will not continue as Head Coach for the Fightin' Irish Football program.
During his five years at Sacred Heart Cathedral, Coach Evans served as the defensive coordinator for the school's 2021 State Championship team and then assumed the head coach role in 2022. The Irish went 16-29 overall, 8-20 in league play, and qualified for CCS three times under his leadership. Most recently, Coach Evans led the Irish to a Division II CCS Championship appearance in 2025. He is also responsible for sending numerous athletes to continue their academic and athletic careers at the collegiate level.
"SHC Athletics is grateful to Coach Evans for his dedicated service to the community and to the many student-athletes he guided and coached under his care," Athletic Director Phil Freed said. "We have chosen to make a change in leadership of SHC Football and are looking forward to the next steps for the program."Â
Sacred Heart Cathedral will begin its search for a new football coach immediately.
