SHC is a San Francisco Archdiocesan High School that is cosponsored by the De La Salle Christian Brothers, District of San Francisco New Orleans and the Daughters of Charity of St. Vincent de Paul, Province of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton. About Sacred Heart Cathedral Athletics At Sacred Heart Cathedral, we believe that participating in athletics contributes to physical, personal, social and spiritual growth. More than 700 students ― a little over half the total student body ― compete for the Fightin’ Irish on 56 teams in 23 sports. These student-athletes add their own chapters to the storied history of the SHC athletic program, a tradition of teaching more than just the game which dates back to the 1880s. SHC teams compete in the West Catholic Athletic League.
