SARATOGA, CA - Junior Jack Harris homered twice and drove in five runs, while three Sacred Heart Cathedral pitchers teamed up to blank Saratoga for the 18-0 victory.
After two scoreless innings, the Fightin' Irish broke loose in the top of the third, scoring 10 runs to effectively put the game well out of reach. The offensive explosion supported a strong four-inning start from Eric Casillas, who allowed just one hit.
Senior Aedan Leary-Vallejo opened the scoring when he doubled, following three straight walks to lead off the top of the third. His double to left scored Keshawn Ogans and Marty Cole for a 2-0 lead.
The lead quickly doubled on the next pitch, when Matt Palomino's ground ball to short resulted in a throw home and an error at the plate, which allowed Erik Ochoa and Leary-Vallejo to score. Two batters later, Harris drove the first pitch he saw over the right field fence for a 7-0 lead.
Leary-Vallejo, Cole, and Shawn White each had two hits in the game, while Palomino had three runs batted in. Kyle Higa and Frank Marcon each pitched scoreless innings in relief.
Brian Tohman and Matt Jacobs each had a hit for Saratoga.
