Announcements and Important Events
The SHC Athletic Department is pleased to announce the appointment of Jonathan Riley as our new head swimming coach. A graduate of Archbishop Riordan, Riley received his BA at the University of Hawaii at Manoa where he swam competitively and received his degree in Theology. Currently, he is the Aquatics Director and Head Swim Coach at the Boys and Girls Club of San Francisco. With the new partnership* between the Boys & Girls Club and SHC, we are excited to have someone who works on both staffs to lead our program. He also served as the head swim coach at Lowell High School over the past 7 years.
We would also like to take this opportunity to thank Scott Bergen who has served as our head swim coach over the past 2 years. Under Bergen’s leadership, the SHC swimming program has continued to grow. With his many responsibilities at SHC and at home, he decided to step down as head coach. We are very pleased that he will remain in the program as an assistant coach, providing our student-athletes with consistency and on-campus presence, both of which will be very valuable to Riley in his role as head coach.
We are excited to have Jonathan Riley lead our swimmers and to continue growing the caliber of our program. We welcome him to the Fightin’ Irish community.

*The Boys and Girls Club is building a new facility at Gough St and Fulton St., just five blocks from campus, and the SHC swim team will call the brand new pool home for all practices and potentially for meets. The new pool is scheduled to be ready for the Spring 2015 season.
